A 30-year-old motel off Interstate 85 near Fair Play could be making a comeback as "a mini Sturgis, (S.D.)," hometown of one of the nation’s largest and most-well known motorcycle rallies.

About 10 investors are redeveloping the former Econo Lodge and its adjoining restaurant on Lakeshore Drive into a "condotel" and campsite development called Edgewater Lodge and Kampground Inc.

The developers plan to market the project mainly to motorcycle enthusiasts, writing in their business plan that the project would suit the camaraderie of the area’s growing motorcycle community.

The average member of the American Motorcycle Association is 40, married, has an average household income of $90,000 a year and has some form of higher education, according to the association.

Edgewater Lodge and Kampground Inc. is in the process of creating private placement sale of 5 million shares of common stock priced at $1 per share.

The shares will be sold through NASD registered brokers in South Carolina, Florida, New York and Georgia. Money raised will fund operation costs and completion of future phases.
